DALLAS — Eight Newport Swim Team youth athletes competed last Friday and Saturday at the Autumn Invitational meet hosted by Blue Dolphin Swim Team.

As NST was the only out-of-town team to compete, no team scores were kept. However, NST head coach John Wray said the team “performed very well” and collected numerous top-3 finishes.

Additionally, the girls 15-and-over 800-yard freestyle relay team, composed of Claire Hurty, Ana Kaldy, Pia Lihou and Layla Bretz, posted an NST team-record time last weekend in Dallas.

Overall, NST members completed 31 total swims and posted 12 personal-best times. Newport swimmers Ruby Perucci, Peter Perucci and Ben Hurty each set three personal records.

The Newport Swim Team returns to action Nov. 6 and 7 in the Turkey Dive Invitational in Albany.
