Waldport junior Zak Holsey received the Oregon School Activities Association’s boys Athlete of the Week award presented by Toyota for the week of May 24-30, the OSAA announced last weekend.

Holsey, an All-Lincoln County School District selection as a quarterback in football, and the state 2A long jump champion in track and field, averaged 26 points a game in a pair of Irish wins on the basketball court to win the weekly OSAA honor. Holsey scored 25 in a 66-59 win May 26 at home against Gold Beach, and dropped in 27 points May 29 in Waldport’s 59-49 win May 29 at Myrtle Point/Powers.

By winning the honor, Holsey receives a letter of recognition from OSAA Executive Director Peter Weber, an Athlete of the Week sling bag, and a Nike prize pack from Toyota and the OSAA. Winners are announced weekly on the OSAA website and across OSAA social media platforms.
