WOODBURN — The Newport High School volleyball team put a mark in the win column on Oct. 5 for the second time this season with a dramatic 4A-3 Oregon West Conference victory on the road over Woodburn in five games.

The Cubs earned a 25-15, 25-27, 25-14, 19-25, 15-8 triumph to improve to 2-6 in league matches and 2-9 overall. The win was Newport’s second victory over the Bulldogs. The Cubs won in three sets when the teams met Sept. 9 at Spangler Court in Newport.

Newport’s upcoming schedule features back-to-back road league matches Oct. 12 at Sisters and Oct. 14 at Cascade. The Cubs then close the campaign with home matches Oct. 19 against Sweet Home and Oct. 25 against Philomath.

Eddyville Charter 3, Triangle Lake 0

At Triangle Lake, the Eagles swept the 1A-3 Mountain West League match Tuesday evening on the road.

Games scores, statistics and further details from the contest were not available as of the News-Times’ deadline. With the win, Eddyville ended its two-match losing streak and boosted its mark to 7-3 in league, 8-5 overall.

The Eagles’ remaining regular season schedule includes an Oct. 7 match at Alsea and a home match at 6 p.m. Oct. 14 against Siletz Valley in the regular campaign finale for both Lincoln County schools.
