GOLD BEACH — The Toledo High School volleyball team won its second consecutive match in three sets Tuesday evening in claiming a 25-9, 25-17, 27-25 sweep of Gold Beach in a 2A-4 Sunset Conference road match.
The win pushed the Boomers to 4-2 in league matches and 6-5 overall in preparation for their scheduled rematch Thursday at home against No. 9 Reedsport, which sat at 4-1, 11-4 as of Wednesday morning. In the teams’ initial meeting Sept. 7 in Reedsport, the Braves beat Toledo 25-15, 24-26, 25-18, 25-13.
Information on the Boomers’ match at Gold Beach was not provided to the media prior the News-Times sports’ Wednesday morning deadline.
Tough Tuesday for local squads
In other matches Tuesday involving Lincoln County schools, Newport fell in three games at 4A-3 Oregon West Conference-foe Philomath; Warrenton swept Taft in a 3A-3 Coastal Range League match in Warrenton, Siletz Valley dropped two three-set matches at Mohawk and Crow scored a 3-1 home win over Eddyville Charter.
No information from any of the previously listed matches was provided to the media.
In matches scheduled for Thursday, Newport was slated to host Stayton, Taft was scheduled to travel to Rainier, Siletz Valley played two Thursday at Crow, and Eddyville Charter hosted Mohawk.
