LINCOLN CITY — After stumbling out of the gate in its first game of the season at the beginning of the month, the Taft girls basketball team appears to have righted the ship.
The Tigers bumped their record above .500 Tuesday night in scoring a convicting 46-32 victory on their home court over Elmira in non-league 3-A action.
After falling 34-27 on Dec. 2 at home to Willamina in their season opener, the Tigers rebounded to take a 49-32 victory Dec. 8 over Catlin Gable, then, on Tuesday night. put the clamps on the Falcon offense.
On Wednesday, the Tigers were scheduled to host Nestucca, ranked 10th in 2A, then traveled Thursday to face Harrisburg in a non-league 3A contest. Taft returns to the road Tuesday, Dec. 20, when it meets La Pine in another non-league 3A matchup.
ELSEWHERE:
Both Newport’s scheduled Tuesday night game at Tillamook and Waldport’s scheduled Tuesday night home game against Sheridan were canceled.
Newport (3-3) is slated to return to action Tuesday, Dec. 20, with a game at Junction City. The Irish (0-2) are slated tonight (Friday) to visit 3A Siuslaw before starting 2A-3 Valley Coast Conference play Tuesday, Dec. 20, with a game at Oakridge.
