Local prep baseball teams were ousted from contention for state playoff hardware as of Wednesday evening following a pair of early week first-round playoff games, and one second-round contest.

After Taft High School posted a convincing 14-8 victory Monday over McLoughlin in a 3A first-round game before an appreciative home crowd at The Pit in Lincoln City, the Tigers fell 10-0 Wednesday at the bracket's No. 2 seed, Banks to close the season 14-15.
