The Newport/Eddyville Charter girls soccer team snapped its three-match losing streak Tuesday evening at Morrow Field in Newport, as the Cubs earned a convincing 6-2 victory over Cascade in a 4A-3 Oregon West Conference match.

With the win, the Cubs improved to 1-3-0 in league contests and 3-3-0 overall. Details from the match were unavailable as of the News-Times sports’ deadline.

Newport/Eddyville Charter was scheduled to travel Thursday to face unranked Sweet Home in another Oregon West Conference contest.

At Cascade, two first-half goals on Tuesday helped lift Cascade to the 4A-3 Oregon West Conference victory.

The loss extended the Cubs’ winless streak to four matches (three losses and a draw). The Cubs earned their last win in a 2-1 defeat of Taft on Sept. 7 at Voris Field in Lincoln City.

Scoring information and further details from the Cubs’ match against Cascade were not provided prior to deadline.

Newport/Eddyville Charter was scheduled Thursday to host Sweet Home in a league tilt before playing host Oct. 5 to No. 2 Philomath. That match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start at Morrow Field in Newport.
