WILSONVILLE — High school football coaches from throughout the state showed a good amount of respect for the 3A-SD 1 conference, placing four league schools in the top 10 in the Class 3A preseason coaches poll released Wednesday morning by the Oregon School Activities Association.
Amity was the top school in the poll from the district that includes Taft High School. The Warriors, who were undefeated in five contests this spring, received four first-place votes in the first 3A poll of the season and are ranked second. Other 3A-SD 1 schools in the poll included Rainer, ranked fourth, No. 7 Warrenton, and Dayton, which shares a No. 9 ranking with Burns.
On its website, OSAA notes that coaches polls are intended only for generating interest and discussion. The OSAA does not consider coaches polls when determining postseason playoff rankings following the completion of the regular season.
The 3A coaches polls are scheduled for release each Wednesday during the regular season. In these listings, first-place votes are marked in parenthesis, followed by total votes received.
