Gangion Lapham, from the Newport Composite team, stands atop the podium last Saturday after Lapham won the boys grade 7 race at the Newport Gnarnia mountain bike race at Wilder park in Newport.

Wilder Park and the Newport Composite mountain bike team once again played host as youth racers competed last Saturday and Sunday in the Newport Gnarnia, the first in this season’s Oregon Interscholastic Cycling League series.

The competition, for athletes from sixth grade through high school, boasts a 3-mile course with some light elevation that begins and finishes near the Newport campus at Oregon Coast Community College.
