At Seaside, the eighth-ranked Seagulls from 4A-SD 1 bolted to an early lead and never looked back in handing Newport a lopsided loss at Broadway Field.

According to OSAA.org, Seaside (2-0) took a 41-0 lead into halftime and limited the Cubs to 55 yards of total offense on the evening. Further information from the game wasn’t available as of the News-Times sports’ deadline.

The Cubs return to Morrow Field at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 in a non-league contest against Yamhill-Carlton (0-1).

Knappa 16, Toledo 12

At Knappa, after falling behind early, the No. 7 Boomers couldn’t recover Friday night and fell in the non-league road 2A road game.

“The team came out flat in the first half, regrouped at halftime and didn’t quit,” Toledo coach Jeff Taylor wrote in his media report. “We just came up short. I was happy that the team kept fighting and didn’t give up after falling behind early.”

No other game information was available.

Toledo (0-2) hosts No. 9 Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Jack Dahl Stadium in the Boomers’ 2A-4 Sunset Conference opener. Jefferson (2-0) won 58-8 at home against Gervais last weekend.
