WILSONVILLE — The Oregon School Activities Association released its final football coaches polls of the 2021 season between Nov. 1-3, and three area schools were ranked in the top 10 in their respective classifications.

With its No. 5 ranking in the 1A, 8-player poll, Waldport High School was Lincoln County’s top-rated program according to coaches who voted throughout the state. After claiming their first state playoff victory since 1979 with a 72-28 drubbing last Friday night of Elgin in Waldport, the Irish travel for a quarterfinal contest at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at Lost River, ranked fourth in the final coaches poll.

Despite losing a first-round state playoff contest at home the weekend prior to Triangle Lake, 1A, 6-player coaches ranked Eddyville Charter sixth in the state after a successful 6-1 campaign. Triangle Lake moved up from eighth in the previous 1A, 6-player poll to No. 2 in the final poll based on its defeat of the Eagles at Larry Cook Memorial Field.

Before Toledo High School dropped a heartbreaker last Saturday afternoon at home to Weston-McEwen in a 2A first-round playoff game, the Boomers received a No. 7 ranking in the season’s final coaches poll.
