Driver hospitalized after crash

The Oregon State Police was dispatched at about 4:15 p.m. April 19 to investigate a report of a single-vehicle car accident near milepost 28 on Highway 20 in Lincoln County.

Upon arrival, OSP noted the 87-year-old driver from McMinnville was reportedly confused and disoriented, but uninjured. She was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport for evaluation.

At the scene, the driver stated fatigue factored into the crash. Her Buick Century, traveling westbound, left the roadway for an unknown reason, traveled off the westbound shoulder and struck several small trees before coming to rest.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Coast Towing and the driver received a citation from OSP.

Traffic stop leads to DUII charge

An OSP trooper conducted a traffic stop of a silver Nissan Sentra with expired tags at about 9:50 p.m. April 19 on Highway 101 near milepost 138 just north of the Agate Beach Golf Club.

According to OSP, the driver, 48-year-old Michelle Rae Ross, consented to field sobriety tests, “performed poorly,” and admitted to recently having used methamphetamine. Ross was cited for DUII-controlled subatance, failure to register a vehicle and for having no operator’s license and insurance.

Ross was released from law enforcement custody after agreeing to provide a urine sample. The Nissan was towed from the scene by Rowley’s Towing.

Otis man charged after traffic stop

OSP reports a traffic stop for failure to properly display license plates in the early evening April 22 earned an Otis man several driving-related charges.

OSP pulled over 43-year-old Christopher Loren Willis, driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe sport-utility vehicle, and upon investigation, learned Willis had been driving with a suspended license, was driving uninsured and was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant for a probation violation out of Lincoln City Circuit Court.

Willis was cited and released per COVID-related restrictions at Lincoln County Jail in Newport.

Newport man arrested on probation violation

The Oregon State Police arrested 61-year-old Todd Allen Drourr on April 25 for having an active warrant for a probation violation at about 9:45 a.m. on Highway 101 near the Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

According to OSP, the agency was alerted to Drourr’s presence by anonymous caller, and Drourr was contacted by OSP walking southbound on the Highway 12010 shoulder at about milepost 20.

Drourr was taken into custody and lodged in Lincoln County Jail in Newport.
