With so many contested races on our ballot, it’s a challenge to keep up with all the information I need to decide. But one thing I’ve promised myself not to do: I won’t pick anyone based on name recognition because they put up more signs sooner, or paid for more position-less print ads.

I understand that during the pandemic it got difficult for candidates to communicate with us voters. But even in this go-round, more and more money seems to be spent on local campaigns. I hate the idea that any of our elected positions can be bought. For me, the solution is simple — don’t reward them. Anyone who tries to buy my vote by spending more money, doesn’t get my vote.
