This letter is in reference to the photograph of an RV on the front page of the News-Times’ Friday, March 17, edition. While residents of Lincoln County are well aware that there is a serious situation with regard to homelessness, using a photograph of an RV is both insensitive and wrong.

First, the occupants are not homeless. Their home is an RV, one of more than one million if the Washington Post “The New Nomads” article (2018) is to be believed. Secondly, because this is not a new, fancy RV, the News-Times considered it right to hold it up as a shining example of homelessness?
