I am voting for Mike Rawles for the Lincoln County School District Board of Education. Mike cares about children and education. I talked with Mike about his vision for the future of LCSD. I am listing just a few of his ideas and concerns. He thinks the problem of homeless children should be talked about openly during board meetings and the public should be asked for their ideas. Although changes are being made to help these children, it’s not enough.

He wants to see new textbooks in subjects where needed, along with new desks and work tables in the Newport schools. On the subject of infrastructure (i.e. HVAC) the continuation to modernize the system districtwide needs to take place.

More teachers and aides need to be added and the COVID level of cleaning needs to continue with adequate staff. The end of COVID has not yet arrived.

Mike knows how to listen, to collaborate, to work as a team yet make the hard decisions. He has the added quality to think outside the box.
