Thomas Joseph Kuehlwein

Thomas Joseph Kuehlwein of Waldport passed away on April 22, 2021. He was born on May 13, 1932 in Omaha, Nebraska, the oldest of three boys to Anton and Hilda (Sedlaczek) Kuehlwein. The family moved to Corvallis in Dec. 1943. He graduated from Corvallis HS in 1950 and Oregon State University in 1955. Tom taught at Waldport HS for 32 years retiring in 1987.

He leaves his wife of 65 years, Barbara, children Kathy (Joe) of Albany, Nancy of Longview, WA, Dan (Kathy) of Oregon City, and Shirley of Brownlee, NE. Brothers John (Pat) of Vancouver, WA and Jerry of Corvallis. Eight grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was a Lions Club member for 47 years, a volunteer Central Oregon Coast Fire and Rescue ambulance driver for 25 years, Park Service volunteer for many years and caretaker of the Waldport Cemetery.

Tom loved to fish for trout and blueback on Drift Creek and enjoyed bowling. He had a green thumb and could grow almost anything, especially orchids.
