Peter Vernon Jones passed away at his home in Hutto, TX due to complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

Pete was born to William and Mary Jones, in Grattan MN. They moved to Forest Grove Oregon, where memories were made, and lifelong friendships formed. He served in the US Army, during the Korean War, earning several medals. He married his wife, Charlotte Johannes, on March 6, 1965. During his lifetime, he worked as a Postal Worker, Commercial Fisherman and Head Engineer of a Seafood Processing Plant. He loved old vehicles and owned several. Pete enjoyed raising dahlias and sharing them with anyone with a container to hold them. He was never happier than when he was outdoors, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He adored his grandson and was the best Bappa in the world! Pete will be remembered for his sense of humor, and humility. He believed in helping those in his local community – he believed in sending outside jobs, at the Plant, to local businesses as opposed to sending them to the valley. If you needed help, he was there! He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents and 7 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; two daughters, Jacki (Rick) Chase and Jennifer (Michael) Lumsden; grandson Shelby Edward Chase; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life, in Hutto, TX on July 3, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to or

Peter will be cremated, and placed in the Texas State Cemetery.
