Dorene Renee (Cluckey) Coe

(Cluckey) Coe passed away peacefully on May 4, 2021 with her family around her.

Dorene was born August 25, 1933 in Spokane, WA to Ernest (Bud) and Beulah Cluckey. She attended school in Missoula, MT.

After moving to Newport and graduating from Newport High School at age 17, she was selected as Miss Newport and went on to compete for the state title in Seaside, OR.

Later in life and after her divorce, Dorene and her 3 children moved to southern California where she worked as an Executive Secretary for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. It’s there that she met friends who introduced her to Elvis Presley.(Yes, ELVIS!) She enjoyed meeting and visiting Elvis at his Bel Air home with friends where she and Elvis would get into some pretty serious discussions about religion. She and her friends would also have fun sneaking onto the set when Elvis was filming!

She met and married the love of her life, Frank Coe, a Senior Chief Petty Officer, in the U.S. Navy. The family moved to Poway, CA when Frank was stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station. Frank and Dorene had a son while living in Poway, and after a few years there, Frank was transferred to Naval Air Station Rota, Spain. There the family lived for 4 years and traveled through Europe before returning to the states.

Frank and Dorene eventually retired to Glendale, AZ to be closer to family. After the passing of her husband, Dorene moved to Chandler, AZ where she lived out her life.

Dorene is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank. She is survived by her children Gary (Linda) Bahm, Sandra (Gary) Tart, Gail Bahm (Robert Duby), and Frank (Desiree) Coe. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

“Weary hours, days of pain and difficult nights are past. In our hearts we know, you have found peace at last.”
