Danny James Arnsdorf

Danny James Arnsdorf, 76, of Newport, OR passed away on May 1, 2020. He was born in Stayton, Minnesota on January 30, 1945 to Garfield and Dorthy (Sisson) Arnsdorf. He married Patricia Simpson on December 25, 1971 in Albany, OR and together they raised their sons, Sebastian, Alex, and Joe.

Dan served for 5 years in the Navy, got a Bachelors of General Science from OSU, received his 1600 Ton Masters Coast Guard license which enabled him to work on R/V Wecoma 21 years. Dan served as captain last the 10 years was given accolades as best ship handler of that size research vessel. After he graduated he worked for Bumblebee Seafoods for 1 year, fished out of Newport for 7 years, was a short time skipper for the City of Newport tug in 1984, and was a crew of the Oregon State University research vessel, Wecoma.

Danny loved horses, especially Paints. He liked watching baseball games and the dance recitals of his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Newport Christian Church.

Danny is survived by his wife, Patti Arnsdorf; brothers Gar, Bruce, Richard, Robert, and sister Laurie; sons Sebastian (Julie), Alex (Christine), and Joe (Jessica); grandchildren Jackson, Meya, Esme, Balthazar, Chandler, Annabelle, and Brayden.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Garfield & Dorthy Arnsdort and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Simpson.

A memorial service will be held at 6pm on July 20, 2021 at Newport Christian Church. Family and friends are welcome.
