Cobble Beach at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area in north Newport provides an experience unlike other beaches along the central Oregon coast. The smooth, round basalt cobblestones make a unique rattling sound as waves wash over them. In addition to enjoying the cobblestones, visitors can get an up-close look at sea life in the tide pools — during low tide — and also see a different view of the nearby Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
