YACHATS — Residents of Yachats should be prepared to see a new structure going up in the very near future on the city’s public works property, located on West Seventh Street.

Construction is slated to begin by early July on a 34-foot wide, 48-foot long and 23-foot tall pole building on the western portion of the city’s wastewater treatment facility. It will be located adjacent to the city’s biosolids processing building and extend toward Yachats Public Library property.

Currently, the city can only process biosolids during dry weather conditions, limiting the city’s ability during the rainy months. The addition of the pole building will allow the city to process treated biosolids regardless of weather conditions.

Additionally, the city says the new pole building will provide cover for some larger pieces of Yachats Public Works equipment, sheltering the equipment from marine elements.
