A U.S. Coast Guard motor lifeboat crew conducted a water rescue early Thursday morning. At approximately 8:21 a.m., a man fell off the Yaquina Bay Bridge. He survived and was able to call for rescue after hitting the water. According to Newport Fire Chief Rob Murphy, it was unclear whether the man jumped or fell, but he was conscious when rescued, thanks to a joint effort from the Newport Fire Department, Pacific West Ambulance and the U.S. Coast Guard.
