The stage at the Newport Performing Arts Center (above) is set up Tuesday for jury selection in a Lincoln County Circuit Court trial. Because of a 6-foot physical distancing requirement, there is only one courtroom at the Lincoln County Courthouse in which 12-person juries can be convened, so two felony trials cannot be held in the building at the same time. The court previously held three trials in the PAC. The case for which jury selection was conducted Tuesday will move to the courthouse for trial, and another proceeding will be held in the PAC beginning Thursday, April 8. Signs are placed on seats in the audience (below) at the PAC to ensure physical distancing.
