A Newport man was arrested last Thursday after allegedly striking the rider of an electric bicycle with his vehicle early that morning then leaving the scene.

According to a press release from the Newport Police Department, at approximately 12:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to Southwest Second and High streets on a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, which subsequently left the scene without rendering aid.
