Drone footage by a neighbor shows a ramp adjacent to a retaining wall at a property in Depoe Bay. The city approved a permit to extend the retaining wall in 2019, but did not approve the ramp, and on Tuesday the council voted for its removal.

DEPOE BAY — The Depoe Bay City Council approved an appeal from a city resident asking that a ramp installed during the renovation of a retaining wall be removed after it was discovered the property owner added it during a renovation without permission.

During the council’s regular meeting Tuesday, Carol McCarthy, who owns property adjacent to the one in question, brought an appeal asking for the removal of the ramp, which extends into the area of visual concern, the space 25 feet from the cliffside where building is not permitted by city ordinance. The property with the ramp is 571 SW Point Avenue.
