The Newport 60+ Activity Center is inviting people to join them from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, for a virtual Home Pour Party.

The method that will be used is called string pour art. People get to make a few choices, then it’s all action and a bit of chance. These fun little art pieces start by pulling a string drenched in paint across a canvas to create at-home masterpieces. This is just an enjoyable session, organizers said. Supplies are needed in advance and can be purchased locally.

Recommended supplies: 8 by 10-inch canvas or smaller; small acrylic paints (20 ounce black and white and two to three colors of your choice. If you choose a black background, you will need light colors and vice versa); plastic gloves; yarn or string; table protection like paper bags, newspaper etc.; four thumb tacks; paint additive like Floetrol; small plastic paint cups (Dixie cups); aluminum disposable tray; small bottle of silicone or Elmer’s glue.

People can register for this virtual program at and click on the yellow banner and the 60+ Activities Tab. A Zoom link will be provided to those registered prior to the party. For more information, call the Newport 60+ Activity Center at 541-574-5459.
