The Newport Public Library continues to offer a variety of activities for young people

This month, the library is handing out Snowball Toss Game Kits to ages 0-11. Young people can make and then play this fun winter game. The kits are available at the library while supplies last.

The library also has a new project for youths ages 12 to 18 years old. They can create a sock snowman in the Teen Room with socks, buttons, felt and other wintery decorations.

A Winter Book Bingo Contest is also underway at the library for ages 18 and under. All they have to do is come by the library to pick up a bingo board and complete a bingo blackout by March to win a free book.

The Newport Public Library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The library is closed to the public on Sunday and Monday.

People can browse the collection, pick up holds, sign up for a library card, check out items and use the public library computers. Computer use is on a first come, first served basis. People are encouraged to pick up their holds inside the building. The meeting room, conference room and study room are available for scheduling. The library building book drop and drive-up book drop are both open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
