A monthly fundraising event known as “Dine Out for Samaritan House” has reinvented itself in order to adhere to health restrictions during the COVID pandemic.

In the past, people would dine at a sponsoring restaurant on a specified day, and a portion of that day’s proceeds would go to support Samaritan House, a shelter for homeless families with children.

The tradition continues with a twist today (Wednesday) when Original Mo’s and Mo’s Annex on the Newport Bayfront will feature “Take Out for Samaritan House.” When people call in a take-out order to either location, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Samaritan House.

On Wednesday, call Original Mo’s at 541-265-2979 between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., or call Mo’s Annex at 541-265-7512 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Samaritan House has been providing homeless families in Lincoln County with safe shelter and assistance in transitioning to self-sufficiency since 1988. Comprehensive case management and educational programming surround the residents with a supportive and sympathetic atmosphere where they can learn the necessary skills to be independent.
