Heartsong Beads in Seal Rock is closing its doors after 21 years in business.
“I’m calling it retirement from having a retail shop,” owner Susan Hanson said. “Between COVID and Amazon, it has become extremely difficult to keep a small shop operating.”
Heartsong was opened in April of 2000 as a gift shop gallery, where people could watch Hanson create glass beads in the studio area or pick out lampwork glass beads to create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. “Over the years, people have come from as far away as Europe to purchase my beads,” she said.
“It has been a wonderful journey,” Hanson continued. “Mothers have come back after many years with stories of how my little demo inspired their young child to become a glass artist. Art touches so many in a good way, (and) I will miss the one-on-one contact.” Heartsong in recent years has also created many memorial beads for locals who have lost a loved one, with each piece a unique work of art.
Hanson’s art is currently showing in Earthworks Gallery in Yachats and Pacific Artists Co-op in Lincoln City (https://www.loc8nearme.com/oregon/lincoln-city/pacific-artists-co-op-gallery/5117272/).
Heartsong will continue online, where it will carry lampwork glass beads and also take orders for memorial beads. The website can be found at www.Heartsongbeads.com People can also get information by emailing Hanson at Heartsongbeads@gmail.com
An “everything must go” liquidation sale begins today (Wednesday), from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Heartsong Beads is located at 10343 NW Pacific Coast Highway in Seal Rock.
“I hope to see you all there for a final goodbye and to thank you all for the support and encouragement over the last 21 years,” Hanson said.
