The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce is encouraging people to shop local this holiday season and shop at local stores this Small Business Saturday, Nov. 27.

Shipping shortages and delays will not be uncommon for the 2021 holiday season, so it has never been a better time to support local small businesses and pick up unique gifts for friends and loved ones, chamber officials said. Shopping local also puts your money back into the community. You are supporting businesses who sponsor youth sports teams, finance local events, and volunteer their time here in Lincoln County.

People are encouraged to share photos of themselves, friends and family out shopping locally on Small Business Saturday, and they could win a prize. Tag #ShopLocalNewportOregon on Facebook and/or Instagram. You can pick up a free Buy Local travel coffee mug from the Small Business Development Center at Oregon Coast Community College (while supplies last), and you will also be entered to win a gift basket provided by the Newport Chamber.

Each tagged photo or video will count as one entry. The gift basket winner will be selected next Monday, Nov. 29. The chamber will also share the Small Business Saturday posts on its social media pages.

More information is available at, or by calling the Newport Chamber office at 541-265-8801.
