Breweries in Seattle and Newport have collaborated on a new beer with the aim of supporting local fishing nonprofits. Owners and head brewers from Figurehead Brewing Co. and Wolf Tree Brewery came together to create Red Rye Return; a red IPA using shared ingredients. Proceeds will benefit the Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial and Newport Fishermens’ Wives.
Bob Monroe, of Figurehead Brewing, said, “The chance to incorporate both Oregon and Washington craft malt in the beer was also a great way to create a unique beer with a connection to both breweries. And many of our customers work in the maritime industry, so giving back to the fishing community has always been important to us.”
Joe Hitselberger, owner of Wolf Tree Brewery, said, “This was a really fun beer for Wolf Tree to brew using ingredients we’ve never used before. Plus, it’s a chance to do what we love for a great cause.”
Both Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial executive secretary Emily Stenson and Newport Fishermens’ Wives director Becca Bostwick-Terry expressed their appreciation for the continued support of both breweries.
