The 37th annual Yaquina Art Association Photographers Show opened to the public on Monday, Aug. 2, and people have the opportunity to view the work of the 11 participating photographers until Sunday, Sept. 5.

The exhibit is on display at the Yaquina Art Gallery at 789 NW Beach Drive in Newport, on the Nye Beach turnaround.

Participating photographers are: Andree Devine, Dave Cook, John Culp, John Lavrakas, Josephine Allen, Kim Cuc Tran, Mark Svendsen, Melody Lavrakas, Michael Carr, Sylvia A. Hosie, and Ted Crego.

The Yaquina Art Association Photographers’ mission is “To encourage and help members to share, teach, learn, and grow as photographers.” The club offers the fellowship of photographers, promotes education, personal growth, and the enjoyment of photography.

YAAP is associated with the Yaquina Art Association and the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs. The group’s meetings are held every first and third Mondays of the month. The first meeting is usually an educational program related to photography, and the second meeting usually is dedicated to competition and critique.

The group has been meeting on Zoom since the pandemic and plans to continue doing so until the time is right to meet in person again.
