The Newport Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert of seasonal music when it presents “Baroque and Beyond for the Holidays II.”
Differing from its usual schedule of performances, this concert will be presented on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Newport Performing Arts Center, 777 W Olive St. The symphony will take the stage at 2 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m., with a pre-concert talk at 6:45 p.m. by music director Adam Flatt.
A classic holiday tradition, the Newport Symphony Orchestra will perform selections of Handel’s Messiah, as well pieces from Ralph Vaughan Williams, J. S. Bach, and more recognizable holiday favorites. This concert features Katherine Evans, the NSO’s principal trumpet, as well as Susan Williams, soprano. Williams has performed nationally and internationally in a wide range of leading opera roles and as a vocal soloist in cities such as Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Khujand, Havanah and Kolkata.
