Singer, songwriter and guitarist Craig Caffall will be in Yachats on Monday, Aug. 9, performing from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Drift Inn, located at 124 Highway 101.
Caffall has been involved with music since the age of 9, when he began drumming for his school band in Mexico. His career has paired him up with some notable artists, including Bo Diddley, John Mayall, David Clayton Thomas, Cyril and Charles Neville, Dan Hicks, Morgan Davie, Bonnie Raitt, Fred Shumate, Bob Wier and Steve Earle, just to name a few.
Residing in the San Francisco Bay area, he has been playing guitar with legendary singer Maria Muldaur for the past 20 years, touring throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, England, Ireland, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Japan. He delighted the crowd in Yachats when he performed with Muldaur at the Yachats Commons in 2016.
Caffall also plays and tours with Shana Morrison (daughter of Van Morrison), and is a highly sought after “special guest” in many bands. He also fronts his own band, CCB.
Caffall recently released his fifth album on GRA records, “Chasing The Moon To Reno.” In January 2012, he released his hit CD “That’s When You Got It Made,” featuring the Latin Rock song “Quemado,” picked by Billboard Magazine as one of the top 500 Latin songs of 2012. His first CD, “Hold Me Up,” was recorded in 1999. In 2013, Caffall’s band, CCB, released “Got It Covered,” a selection of songs from the bands cover set list, “songs that everybody knows but CCB makes them their own,” Caffall said. In 2018, he released a CD of original songs, “Turns To The Blues,” his fourth album.
In the 1980s, Caffall lived outside Philomath and played the Iron Kettle in Waldport with the Curley Waffles Band, performing country western and rock and roll.
