NEWPORT — U.S. Senator Ron Wyden will hold a town hall in Newport on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Local constituents will have the opportunity to ask the legislator about any issue they deem important at this open-to-all event.
“Whether it’s gun violence, election security or any other issue, I’m a strong believer that open-to-all town halls are essential opportunities to get feedback from Oregonians and put democracy into action locally,” said Wyden, whose last Lincoln County town hall took place at the Lincoln City Cultural Center in January.
Wyden has held 33 town halls in 2019, in pursuit of fulfilling his pledge to hold at least one town hall in each of Oregon’s counties every year. Before traveling to Newport in the evening, the senator will be holding another town hall in Corvallis, and this weekend he will be doing the same in Bend.
“Listening to Oregonians in every nook and cranny of our state is essential to finding solutions that work,” said Wyden.
The Newport event will begin at 5 p.m. at the Oregon Coast Community College Central County Campus, located at 400 SE College Way, Newport.
