The cause of a fire that destroyed a home this week at 1442 NW Fircrest Court in Waldport remains under investigation.
At around 11:15 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, a neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the back of the home. Firefighters from Central Oregon Coast Fire & Rescue arrived a short time later and discovered flames coming from the roof of the house. Crews entered the structure to begin combating the fire. Personnel from the Seal Rock Fire Department, the Yachats Rural Fire Protection District and the Newport Fire Department also responded to the scene to provide assistance.
The fire had made its way through the entire attic space of the home. Firefighters fought the fire from both inside and outside the structure over the next four hours to get it under control and put it out.
The scene was turned over to the Oregon State Fire Marshal and the fire investigation team at around 3:45 p.m. to investigate the cause of the fire.
There were no injuries to residents or emergency personnel, and no surrounding structures or vegetation were affected by the fire.
Pacific West Ambulance and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office also assisted at the scene.
