Fishermen, processors settle on prices after a six-week season delay

NEWPORT — After a six-week delay, the Oregon pink shrimp season finally got underway this week as boats started heading out to sea and price negotiations with processors continued. “We’re getting started even though we don’t have a settled price yet from all of the five plants,” said Ted Gibson, a Newport fishermen who is chairman of the Oregon Trawl Commission.
