Robert “Bob” V. Shattuck
September 11, 1937- February 21, 2019
Robert Verl Shattuck, 81, of Florence died peacefully with his family by his side February 21st, at River Bend Hospital in Springfield, Oregon after a short illness. He was born in Corvallis, Oregon to Charles and Muriel Irene (Taylor) Shattuck on September 11, 1937.
After graduating from Corvallis High School, he served in the Army and was stationed throughout Europe. One of his fondest memories was buying a VW beetle in Germany and having it shipped back to the states where he drove it cross country back to Oregon.
Robert, “Buzz” to many of his close friends and family, worked for Payless Drug Stores for over 30 years. He started his career with Payless at their downtown Corvallis location, but through his career worked in Vermillion, South Dakota, Bremerton, Washington, Newport, Oregon, as well as Texas, California, and Arizona.
Robert married Carol Jean Jordan on July 13th, 1968 in Vermillion, South Dakota. They raised two children; Brent Shattuck of Fresno, California and Laurie Kidd of Eugene, Oregon.
He enjoyed spending time outside working in his yard and followed golf religiously.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean; his kids: Brent Shattuck and Laurie Kidd; sisters: Estelle Sexton, Dorothy Farmer and Janice Patterson;three grandchildren: Nathan and Erin Shattuck of Fresno, California, and Abbie Kidd of Eugene.
Funeral services will be held 10AM Friday, March 8th at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens, 34275 Riverside Drive SW, Albany, OR 97321. A celebration of life will follow immediately at the Holiday Inn Express-On The River, 781 NE 2nd Street, Corvallis, Oregon 97330.
