PAULINE PARKER GREEN   February 2, 1926 – August 17, 2019

Pauline Parker Green of Salem, Oregon went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 17, 2019 at the age of 93.  She lived a long and fruitful life giving and volunteering wherever she was needed.

Pauline was born in Sanger, California on February 2, 1926 to parents Charles and Bertha Parker.   She grew up helping on the farm raising turkeys and growing cotton, and attending schools in Sanger.

Pauline met a handsome sailor named Jacob L. Green at a USO dance in San Francisco, and they were married on September 2, 1943. Pauline and Bud settled in Sanger, California, then later moving to Newport, Oregon to pursue their livelihood in the commercial fishing industry.  Together they raised 6 children.  Anita Secrist (Dan), Patti Kimball (Bill), Jake Green (Nancy) , Sherri Eide (John), Shirley Updenkelder (Doug), and Lori Adams (Erik).

Pauline and her family attended Newport Assembly of God Church for many years where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School classes and was active in the Women’s Ministries group.  She loved to sing and instilled praise through song in all of her children.  She could still pick up and harmonize every hymn she had ever learned. She was a wonderful seamstress and taught her children the importance of making their own clothing, sometimes using creative sources for fabric!! Pauline worked many years in the canneries in Newport.  She finished out her working years in the cafeteria at Yaquina View School, a job she thoroughly enjoyed, until her retirement in 1995

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jacob L. Bud Green, daughter Sherri Lynn Eide and grandson, Scott R. Updenkelder.

Left to cherish her memory are five of her children, Sister Marjorie Garner of Fresno, California, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and many many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at Eureka Cemetery in Newport, Oregon.  The family wishes to thank Serenity Hospice Care and Cedar Village Assisted Living in Salem, Oregon for their loving care in the final days of their mother’s life.
