The Oregon Coast Council for the Arts is accepting workshop proposals for the 25th Annual Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival, to be held April 16-19, 2020, with workshops at the Newport Visual Arts Center and additional locations around Newport. The deadline for proposals by instructors is October 15, and accepted proposal presenters will be notified later in October.
OCCA encourages workshop proposals addressing new and innovative techniques as well as traditional processes, including but not limited to assemblage, book arts, collage, dyeing, mixed media, paper making, paper manipulation, printing, specialty binding techniques and surface design. OCCA is looking for proposals for one- and two-day workshops accommodating 8-16 students per workshop, and encourages multiple proposal ideas to consider. Instructors selected to lead workshops receive competitive teaching fees, travel stipends, a per diem for lodging and food, other festival discounts and an opportunity to exhibit their artwork in the festival’s Instructors’ Show.
Interested instructors should contact Sara Siggelkow, festival coordinator, at [email protected] or 608-346-0697, to receive the electronic festival proposals forms.
