A celebration for the culmination of National Assisted Living Week (Sept. 8-14) was held last Saturday at South Beach Manor, located at 411 SE 35th St. in South Beach.

“A Spark of Creativity” was this year’s theme for National Assisted Living Week. This annual, national observance provides an opportunity for residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers and local communities to celebrate the individuals served in assisted living and learn more about this sector of long-term care.

At South Beach Manor, the week was filled with activities and events, which included a watercolor teacher, herbalist and South Beach Manor’s own team leading various events and activities. And Saturday marked the manor’s first family and friends event with a barbecue and homemade pie in the courtyard, which was well attended and included about 30 of the residents.

South Beach Manor opened the doors to its first residents on July 29 of this year. The assisted living facility can house up to 41 residents in shared and private apartments, and there is currently space available. People can learn more by going online at www.CaringPlaces.com, clicking on the tab for “Our Communities” and then selecting “South Beach Manor.” The administrator at the facility is Cindy Benson, who says people are welcome to call in to have lunch (courtesy of South Beach Manor) and tour the community. The phone number is 541-961-3237.
