Fatal New Year’s Eve crash on Highway 18

A car crash east of Otis on New Year’s Eve killed one person and sent six to the hospital

At approximately 2:41 p.m., Oregon State Police troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 18 near milepost 10. 

Preliminary investigation revealed a Honda Pilot, driven by Julien Doudna, 35, of Mill City, was crossing the highway from the North Van Duzer rest area to the South Van Duzer rest area and collided with an eastbound Toyota Land Cruiser, driven by Scott Brady, 49, of Salem. A passenger in the Honda Pilot, Brandy Doudna, 44, of Mill City, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Pilot, along with three juveniles, were transported to Salem Hospital. Another juvenile passenger was transported by Life Flight helicopter to Legacy Emmanuel Hospital in Portland.

A juvenile passenger in the Land Cruiser was transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City, while the driver and two passengers were not transported. 

The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon Department of Transportation Incident Response, North Lincoln Fire & Rescue, Pacific West Ambulance and medical units from West Valley Fire and Rescue.
