Doyle L. Jennings passed away February 29, 2020 at the home he shared with his wife, LaNeta in Newport, OR.
Doyle was born in Kansas City, KS on December 17, 1930 to Flem & Lotus (Breedlove) Jennings. Upon graduating from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City in 1947, he joined the Navy and served as a lifeguard in Trinidad, West Indies.
In 1951, he married Cynthia Ammon, moved to Seattle, WA and raised two daughters, Karen (Smith) and Kim (Stewart). In Seattle, Doyle drove the bus for Seattle City Transit. Then later, he worked as a milkman for Darigold.
In 1972 he moved to Chehalis, WA and bought a truck stop café called “The Little Wagon Wheel” located across the street from the county courthouse. Doyle had a talent for cooking and working hard, and the café did well. He later sold the café, moved to Lincoln City, OR and became the owner of the Surf Restaurant from 1975 – 1988.
In 1989, Doyle moved to Newport, OR and married LaNeta Wyatt. As a couple, they enjoyed travel to many places, including Ireland, Scotland, and England. Doyle loved kids and enjoyed driving the school bus for the Newport School District. Later he drove transit for Lincoln County.
Doyle is survived by his wife, LaNeta, his daughters, Karen and Kim; his grandchildren, Ryan (Janelle), Trevor (Bethany), Mike (Chrissy), Eli, Dillon and Brynn Hendrickson, Shen Stewart, five great grandchildren and his stepsons, Norman and Adam Wyatt.
During his healthy years, Doyle had a full life and enjoyed every minute. He is deeply loved and greatly missed by his family and friends. A private gathering will be held at a later date.
