Charles F. Carter November 22, 1947 – April 12, 2019
Charles F. Carter, of Newport, left on his voyage to the next, on April 12, 2019. Born November 22, 1947 in Seattle, WA, he lived an American life.
He was a son, brother, Boy Scout, soldier (Army, 1966-’69), fisherman (commercial & sport), husband, father, painter, woodworker, metal bender, salesman, lover of Jazz, carpenter, poet, grandfather, and a friend.
Growing up in his family’s West Seattle boat yard instilled a deep love for the sea, and all its inhabitants. Throughout his life, Charles never lived far from salt water, and greatly appreciated the scientific insights he learned from his co-workers at the Environmental Protection Agency. A prolific reader with a perpetual curiosity about life and people, he loved good conversation, challenging ideas and cold beer.
He is survived by his son Cameron and daughter-in-law Sönda of Portland, and two granddaughters. He will be missed.
