Case of missing purse solved

Posted: Tuesday, Aug 26th, 2014

GLENEDEN BEACH — A report of a fight-in-progress resulted in the recovery of a stolen purse, and the arrest of a 32-year-old Depoe Bay man, authorities said Monday.

Devan Walbert was taken into custody for multiple alleged offenses last week shortly after Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an Aug. 20 call about a disturbance in the 500 block of North Highway 101 in Depoe Bay.

Deputies apparently encountered Walbert at the scene of the fight. An investigation determined Walbert was also a suspect in the purse theft two days earlier. The purse was allegedly stolen Aug. 19 in the 7000 block of North Highway 101 in Gleneden Beach.

A subsequent search of Walbert’s vehicle turned up the purse, and suspected methamphetamine. He was taken into custody, and lodged at Lincoln County Jail.
