Cubs crank it up

NEWPORT — It’s Rod Losier’s first year as head coach for Newport’s varsity football team, but he’s not the only new face in the crowd.

The Cubs are looking to reassert themselves in the new-look Oregon West Conference, and they’ll have to do so without some of the key players from last year’s squad.

The biggest losses offensively included phenom kicker John Graveline and wide receivers Carter McEntee and Luke Richcreek, two of the offense’s top targets.
