Gravel epic returns to Lincoln County

WALDPORT — As many as 250 riders will descend on Waldport High School next weekend for a race that lives up to its moniker of “Epic.”

The 2014 Oregon Coast Gravel Epic, which starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, will be the second annual iteration of Eugene-based Dark:30 Sports’ super-sized bike race over the forest service roads of southern Lincoln County. The longer of the two routes, called the Abomination course, runs 70 miles through the countryside, beginning and ending at Waldport High School.
