NEWPORT – Just because it’s almost football season doesn’t mean it’s too late to still play a little baseball.
Coaches and former players from Newport High’s baseball program will be hosting a youth baseball camp Aug. 19-20.
The staff for the two-day camp includes Newport coaches Ken Riley and Dave Heater, along with a number of Newport alumni, including Taylor Plesha.
“We have tons of guys who have lots of knowledge, we pretty much can cover everything at the level we want to,” Plesha said of the program. “It’s not like an Oregon State baseball camp, it’s just come, learn how to take a ground ball the right way, then do it 50 times, hopefully you get better.”
