TOLEDO — Toledo’s Red Dog Disc Golf Course hasn’t been around for long, but it’s already been vandalized — twice.

The first incident occurred within 24 hours of the course being built. It went up July 12 behind the Toledo Public Library, and by 5 p.m. the next day, every metal pole and sign had been sawed off or pulled out of the ground, said Oregon Central Coast Disc Golf Club member Kyle Rakoz, who also helped develop the course.

“It was not just vandalized, it was destroyed,” Toledo Police Officer Brittney Crocker said. “The suspect just wanted to do as much damage as they could.”

It was roughly $1,000 worth of destruction to a $2,300 course supported by sponsorships and fundraising, said City Councilor Alma Baxter, who helped put Red Dog up.
