NEWPORT — The Lincoln County Historical Society research library will soon be open to the public in the former Log Cabin Museum.

The library collection, made up of photographs, maps and other materials documenting the history of Lincoln County, will be housed in a larger space. And, more importantly, everything will be in one location.

Library materials and artifacts used to be sprawled throughout the basement of the Burrows House Museum, the smaller carriage house next door and sections of the log cabin.

“We’ve consolidated the materials,” said Steve Wyatt, the executive director of the Lincoln County Historical Society.

A crew from the historical society and volunteers worked to move the library collection to its new home this week.
